A wood of such durability that it is known as ‘ironwood’ in China, Teak is a tropical hardwood that is highly sought out specifically for its unique characteristics. Teak‘s natural oils make it immune to most insects and extremely resistant to wind, water, salt, and temperature changes. These natural oils, as well as the presence of silica in the wood, also make it very unlikely to warp, split, or crack. Because of this durability, teak has been used for the manufacture of nautical products, outdoor decking and furniture, and boat decks since the middle ages. In fact, teak is so durable that when ships were no longer seaworthy due to age, the teak decking was frequently still in such good condition that it was often re-purposed as outdoor furniture. Century old teak benches are still used in parts of the world to this day.
Because of these amazing characteristics, teak is the wood of choice for durable and beautiful outdoor furniture.
Each piece of forged aluminum is a unique creation in itself. All pieces are hand crafted by master metalsmiths, yielding a final product whose quality and expressiveness cannot be matched using industrial techniques. Furthermore, each piece is treated with cataphoresis, a technique that bonds protective particles to the metal using a charged electric field, and then finally hand-painted and sealed with protectants for years of reliable use.
